Good and bad music videos

Today we looked at a range of different music videos of previous students and analysed them with their grades.

The first three that we looked at were graded EED, these gave us an indication on what we should and shouldn't do with our video. The reasons why they got bad grades were as followed;

Video 1 - http://robmaciver2.blogspot.co.uk/
  • It was very dark and you couldn't see anything of the actual video itself
  • Only a small proportion of the video was music related
  • There was no narrative
  • Were they could have picked up another mark there was no sound, there was a soundless band playing
  • The pace of the video and changing of shots didn't match the pace of the music
  • Camera was very unsteady at times

Video 2 - http://fh9836a2.blogspot.co.uk/
  • The lip sync was very poor
  • Poor editing
  • It looked as if it was filmed last minute
  • Poor location choice
  • No appropriate clothing
  • No mise-en-scene
Video 3 - http://jasminegilla2media.blogspot.co.uk/
  • Un-needed flashing
  • One location
  • No costume change
  • There was a narrative
  • It became repetitive
  • No development within the video
  • Shots were too long

The next set of three videos that we looked at were A* A+ A-. These videos gave us a very good idea of how to achieve the highest of grades

Video 1- http://rachelbowermedia.blogspot.co.uk/
  • The flashing of the lights were in tune with the song music
  • Appropriate locations
  • Appropriate costumes
  • Editing was top notch
         Video 2 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hv7mYZKK_Ns
  • Narrative was good
  • Underwater camera skills
  • Editing was good
  • Numerous locations used
  • Mirroring skills in editing
  • Chose a good performer
Video 3 - http://nahidaalia2.blogspot.co.uk/
  • A skilled performer was used
  • Good quality camera
  • Locations
  • Costumes which fitted the lyrics to the song
  • Pre-booked locations
  • It was slightly repetitive though
